Mike,<br>I don't know much about greys. Mostly what I have found on the net. For me I bought a regular market tractor to avoid the hassle of the parts situation. I have to chase parts all week for japanese machine tools on company time and don't want to have to do it for my tractor too.<br>This does not answer your question but it may be worth while for you to give Steve Carver at Carver Equipment a call or e-mail. His number and email address can be found on his web site. He is not far from you ~90 or so miles at the I-40 and I-95 intersection. He may have a used or a lease return tractor that may suit your needs and have better parts availability and resale value. When I bought my tractor he had some interesting financing options (ie: monthly rental with the rental $ going towards the down payment when you purchase.) They are good honest people there and provide EXCELLENT customer service at reasonable prices.<br>Jeff in NC

went thru the same comparision a yr ago (but add in the NH 1720 (pre boomer)too. I found the L2500DT to have the most bang for MY buck. Plus I liked the Kubota dealer (carver equipment only 1 hr away) better than the local multi brand NH, Massey, Kubota dealer who wanted only to sell me what he had not what I wanted. Some one who will be there after the sale for you (phone, e-mail, etc) is very important. You will probably have lots silly little questions youu will want answers for.<br>Just my $.02 happy tractoring

The 3pt finish mower is EASY to hook up. It rolls really easy so backing up to correctly is not critical. (It provides a counter weight for the loader when the neighbor stops you to help move some dirt when you are mowing.) It takes some

Don't know the HP of your Deere but for comparison my Kubota (23.5 PTO hp) has no problem pulling/running a 72

I looked at the NH line last year. The 1715 is basically a stripped down 1720 or so I was told and some what different from the Boomers. I was offered a lease return in march 98 for $9995 with about 200 hours 4wd (Bought a new Kubota L2500DT for not much more from a different much more pleasant dealer). I also had some trouble with their web site a few weeks ago. I think it was being updated then. As bad a I hate to say it it works best with IE :( (although I prefer Netscape :) or anything non-Microsoft). <br>Carver's web page is great. It has most new Kubota models listed alomg with their prices. It has some other new bells and whistles too. Give it a try again. <br>Jeff in NC

I can understand a dealer giving priority to units he sold. And have no problem what so ever with them servicing a comercial users tractor before mine. As for not doing the work at all... I think refusing to do warranty work could have repercussions from the manufacturer being represented. I'm not sure I would want someone with this mentality to work on my tractor anyway. Who knows if they would do it properly. I'm glad I don't have to deal with someone like this.<br>Jeff in NC

I compared these two last year at this time. I bought the L2500. Why? I liked the dealer better (Carver Equip), got a new L2500 for less than local kubota/NH dealer wanted for a lease return NH 1720. The NH1720 is a little heavier or so says the sales literature I dug up (it's a lot more tractor like than the Boomers). It has the option of the SSS transmission and live PTO for a HEAFTY price. I haven't missed the live PTO but was concerned this would be an issue. It turns out it hasn't been one. I am VERY VERY satisfied with the L2500 and think I made the right decision. <br>According to the L2500 owners manual a 100 3pt sprayer is a bit large. It recomends an 80 gal unit, NH lit I have does specify. I think the 5ft rotary cutter would work fine on either unit. I have no experience with post hole diggers nad cant find any specifics in the stuff I still have around. <br>Jeff in NC

Smith & Wesson if you catch them and State Farm if you don't. <br>My Kubota stays locked in the garage when not in use (This also keeps the daughter and neighbors kids from playing on it.) I'm using a 72

I use a 4' rotary cutter for some uncleared stuff I'm trying to reclaim fom the black berry bushes and various other vines. It handles the 4' unit in the thickes of stuff with ease. I have seen some others are using a 5' rotary cutter "bush hog" with theirs. IMO I think a 5' would be fine. I don't use the rotary cutter that often so the extra foot is not missed.
After reading about the guy with the "dusted" excavator engine on the KTMB I e-mailed my dealer (Carver Equipment) and bought a dual element air filter. It may be over kill but it can be dusty when mowing at times and it is not a BIG expense some where about $100. I didn't think I could justify a loader to the wife when I bought the tractor so I didn't get one then. Will be getting one with the ole tax refund in the next couple of months.
